Project Summary
The Lubumbashi Democratic Republic of the Congo Temple is a single-story building of approximately 1,551 square meters (16,700 square feet). Supporting building on site include a patron housing facility, a temple missionary housing facility, a guardhouse, and mechanical buildings. Services include a distribution center, family history center, and arrival center. The Lubumbashi Temple presents a refined composition rooted in symmetry and permanence.
Its stone façade, articulated with classical detailing, frames a central tower that rises into a slender spire, establishing a spiritual landmark within the Congolese landscape. The exterior form emphasizes solidity and clarity, softened by landscaped gardens and palm-lined edges that connect the sacred architecture to its lush tropical setting. Interiors are defined by warm timber joinery, patterned stained glass, and light-colored stone, producing a serene interplay of material richness and luminosity. Subtle geometric motifs and vibrant textiles reference regional artistry, ensuring the temple embodies both universality of faith and resonance with local cultural context.
