Project Summary
Located in the industrial heart of Durban, this contemporary chicken distribution centre exemplifies a refined synthesis of form and function. The architecture draws from utilitarian warehouse typologies, yet elevates them through clean, modern lines and a distinctive use of corrugated metal cladding and deep overhangs, which provide both solar shading and visual rhythm.
The facility is spatially stratified to accommodate efficient logistics flow—truck docking zones, high-clearance loading bays, and a side volume dedicated to administrative offices, which are articulated with a sweeping glass façade that offers transparency and natural light while overlooking a lushly landscaped perimeter. The design responds sensitively to its subtropical context, balancing industrial robustness with environmental integration and user comfort, making it a model of pragmatic elegance in logistics architecture.
